5 Places to Visit in and around Eastbourne
Bayview Park is on the edge of Eastbourne town which is known primarily for being a tourist seaside resort. Eastbourne has many interesting attractions and historic landmarks, some of which I'll go over in this blog. Eastbourne is a relatively new town, first developed in 1859 by the Duke of Devonshire. It contains many Victorian hotels, a pier and a Napoleonic fort and military museum
Beachy head is the highest chalk sea cliff in Britain, somewhat comparable to the white cliffs of Dover. It's a beautiful example of the natural landscapes that occur on the British coastline. The name 'Beachy Head' was established by 1724, and is a corruption of the original French 'beau chef' meaning “beautiful headland”. It's been used in television and film, such as Harry Potter, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Quadrophenia, and David Bowie even filmed there for the music video to his 198 song, “Ashes to Ashes”

Sovereign Harbour is known as Eastbourne's best kept secret. It's family-friendly, award-winning and sports many waterfront cafes, restaurants and shops. Perfect for any boat enthusiast, but otherwise, a beautiful area to visit and explore with family and friends.
Eastbourne Miniature Steam Railway
Eastbourne Miniature Steam Railway Adventure Park is the perfect place to go for any train enthusiast or trainspotter. It features one-eight scale locomotives which travel nearly a mile around the country park. Take a stroll around the five-acre lake which features many different examples of wildlife. There are prize-winning tea gardens, picnic areas, model rail ways and a gift shop, as well as an adventure playground for children.
Towner Art Gallery
Towner Art Gallery is one of the most significant art galleries in the south of England and draws over 100,000 visitors a year. It was established in 1920 by John Chrisholm Towner who was a local Alderman. It features an annual public competition, accepting submissions from artists in the region to enter into permanent collection. It works with schools, colleges, libraries, museums health care providers, youth services, universities and community groups.
Eastbourne Pier is one of the finest examples of a Victorian pier, and makes from a stunning seafront landmark. It has a variety of shops, including a fish and chip shop, Waterfront cafe/bar, Atlantis nightclub, Victorian Tea Rooms, Coffee Republic, fishing as well as fantastic views of the English Channel.
